To end the year off we wanted to leave you with this spectacular Joshua Tree styled shoot!! There was a great team of professionals that worked together to create this unique wedding shoot. Here is what the stylist had to say about the shoot:
“Inspired by the desert and it’s natural beauty, I decided to keep the colors neutral and matching the existing landscape. However, instead of going with a really rustic look like is present all over Pinterest and the blogs, I wanted to design something sparkly and pretty. I’ve found that as the economy is slowly starting to recover, many of my brides, while they still love the antique, vintage look are also longing to have that glamourous, luxury feel to their weddings again. So, I created an inspiration board that incorporated the rustic desert atmosphere, but was complete with sparkle and glam!
Working with White Wedding Day Events, we designed a glamorous table scape underneath a canopy draped in sheer white fabric and anchored with curly willow. It was complete with a silver dupioni table runner, grey napkins, and of course, a hanging crystal chandelier! The colors I chose were mint green and white with touches of mauve and purple. Our florist, Camellia Flowers, designed beautiful centerpieces of green succulents, white orchids, and pops of purple roses.
If you have ever been to Joshua Tree, you’ve seen the massive boulders that look like they don’t belong in the sprawling desert. They appear out of no where after miles and miles of nothing. Wanting to incorporate this natural element in, we went with the theme “You are my Rock.” I purchased river rock tiles from Home Depot and used them as place mats. The centerpieces were arranged in glass containers filled with rocks and diamond gems to add a touch of sparkle. The escort card board was created with a magnetic piece of sheet metal so rocks could be used as magnets to hold up the escort cards! And, instead of a traditional guestbook, “wishing rocks” were used.
We also wanted to incorporate the actual Joshua Tree into the shoot, so Hall Vintage Rentals created hanging mason jars holding candles which we hung from a Joshua Tree over the sweets table! Tailored Sweets, produced mint green French macaroons, purple taffy, a beautiful white cake decorated with succulents, gourmet marshmallows with all of the fixin’s for s’mores, and yummy white cake pops! And, the bartender in me had to add a signature drink, S’more Sippers, made with marshmallow flavored vodka! Nic Roc Designs created all of the beautiful stationary from the sweets table labels, menu cards, invitations, and escort cards.
Lovey Bridal provided the beautiful gowns and Sandra Nicole Designs handpicked the perfect jewelry to match. Amanda of Thorne Artistry was not only our amazing hair and make-up artist, but wardrobe stylist as well. She really pulled each an every look together from the hair style to the accent pieces! And of course, Brett and Liz of Siegel Thurston Photography, captured the details so perfectly. Their artistic eye and creative minds came up with some of the coolest shots I’ve ever seen. – Alicia Thorne, You-Nique Weddings
