A wedding is a celebration that brings all your loved ones together to enjoy your big day with you. It is also a day where people you do not even know come together to make that day a special one. From DJs to drivers, everyone works hard to get you the service you deserve (or at least they should). Often brides and grooms don’t know what to tip the people who are working for them. Here is a chart to give you an IDEA of how to tip. Just like being at a restaurant, tips vary on the server. Some may deserve less than 15% and some do such a great job you feel you should give them more. Remember to always tip what you feel they deserve. This is just a guide and should be altered to your desire:

Thank God it’s Friday. Since I’m sure you have had a busy week planning your wedding and you will be spending Sunday at the Elk Grove Bridal Show, take tonight to relax. This movie is a must for you and your friends or you and your fiance’. Vince Vaughn is exceptionally hilarious and the rest of the cast is a plus. So enjoy your Friday night.
Don’t forget: Each week we will be posting a new Movie, Cocktail & Meal for you to enjoy with your fiance’, friends or just for a night to yourself. Leave the planning to us!
Movie of the Week: Couples Retreat
Dave and Ronnie, Jason and Cynthia, and Joey and Lucy are close. The group used to include Shane and Jennifer, but they divorced and she’s gone. Jason and Cynthia announce that their marriage is in trouble, and they beg their friends (and Shane’s young girlfriend) to join them on a couples’ retreat, at the package rate, on a tropical island. The others reluctantly agree, planning to play while Jason and Cynthia work on their marriage with an island psychologist. To everyone’s surprise, the package is inflexible: each couple must participate in the couples’ exercises. Soon fault lines appear in all four relationships. What’s in store for each couple?

Drink of the Week: Beach Sunday
Meal of the Week: Hawaiian Beach Shrimp

Another award show means another night of stylish, and sometimes questionable, fashion and wedding dress inspiration. This red carpet was filled with bridal inspired dresses and glamorous up-dos. Many stars decided to go for a radiant Spring pastel glow. There was definitely a trend with white and neutral colors. Who is your favorite?
Do you see a trend here? Everyone seemed to lean toward white to walk down the red carpet. They looked stunning and wore a dress that would be perfect to walk down the isle in. Although Gwyneth Paltrow decided on a dress that came with a cape, she still looked amazing and flawless. Milla Jovovich wore a one-shoulder sequenced gown that fit her figure and dazzled on the red carpet.
Although these two gowns may not be categorized in the bridal category, we still think they deserve a recognition for unique and glamorous.
These three dresses just scream wedding dress. Penelope Cruz’s periwinkle, princess-like gown would be an elegant and romantic wedding dress. Maria Menudos’ sage gown has a draping style that fits her body but gives it a classy and elegant look. Maya Rudolph’s deep purple gown may not be a bride’s automatic pick for a wedding dress, but if you picture it in champagne or white, it would look amazing with the detailed diamonds. It is sleek and form fitting and would be perfect for wedding photographs.
Octavia Spencer was glamorous in a white Tadashi Shoji gown, which had bead work flowing to the center to create a slender waist. This would be a beautiful wedding gown and looks great with a pulled back up-do.
Although the dress Rooney Mara is wearing is not our all-time favorite, we think she deserves a pat on the back for stepping out of her “black shell”. Rooney always wears black to every award show she attends. Maybe she is starting out her 2012 with a positive outlook or maybe she is practicing for a future wedding. Whatever the case is, she looked stunning in the cream lace lined gown, sleek hair-do and red lipstick. This dress would be a unique, yet beautiful and comfortable wedding dress. What do you think?
…And the awards go to…
Second Runner Up goes to Sandra Bullock!
This dress is unique and unlike any other. It is a romantic Marchesa gown, which is put together with a black and white pallette. The gold embroidered band at the waist and sleeves gives it the touch of class and glamor. At first we thought this was a safe pick for Sandra. The front of the gown is sleek, yet conservative. When she turned around and showed the low draped back that plunges to her waist, we realized that this dress was nothing less than sexy. To finish, she chose a petite clutch, jewel-drop earrings and her famous Sandra Bullock high ponytail.
First Runner Up goes to Cameron Diaz!
Everyone knows Cameron has a physique to die for, so why now show it off? She always finds a way to show some skin, but this year she went for a more glamorous and elegant look rather than her normal cute and sexy look. She looked chic in a cream strapless Gucci gown. The dress was accessorized with shimmery tiered ruffles at the hem. Nothing was needed for detail but a sparkly diamond choker and satin pumps. To top it off, her new blond bob reminded us of her fun and sexy attitude. Good job Cam!
And the award goes to….Stacey Keibler for Best Dressed!
This girl is having the time of her life, isn’t she? As if having George Clooney as arm candy wasn’t enough.
Brides are getting creative these days. Even though this dress would look exquisite in champagne or white, leaving this dress gold as a bridal gown just may take the cake. This dress screams old Hollywood glamor. The off-the-shoulder draping and positively golden material glowed on her. One may think this would be a chancy dress to wear to the Oscars, since the Oscar statue itself is draped in gold. Stacey is in a category of her own in this beautiful gown with a swirled rose “cinched” at her hip. This dress looked amazing with little-to-no accessories, natural makeup and a simple swoop to the side hair-do. So we got to ask, is Stacey stepping it up as an A-lister in Hollywood or is she a “trophy” girlfriend?

Ronald & Nancy Regan had a very simple wedding. We love her little bird cage veil and the flowers she has in her hair. Ronald’s looking pretty dapper in his suit. He was a pretty good looking guy.

Movie of the Week: Armageddon
It is just another day at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a few astronauts were repairing a satellite until, out of nowhere, a series of asteroids came crashing into the shuttle, destroying it. These asteroids also decimated New York soon thereafter. Then, NASA discovered that there is an asteroid roughly the size of Texas heading towards the Earth, and when it does hit the Earth, the planet itself and all of its inhabitants will be obliterated, worse, the asteroid will hit the Earth in 18 days. Unfortunately, NASA’s plans to destroy the asteroid are irrelevant. That is when the U.S. military decides to use a nuclear warhead to blow the asteroid to pieces. Then, scientists decide to blow the asteroid with the warhead inside the asteroid itself. The only man to do it, is an oil driller named Harry Stamper and his group of misfit drillers and geologists. As he and his drill team prepare for space excavation, the asteroid is still heading towards the Earth. When the crew are launched into outer space, they are determined to destroy this asteroid.

You’ve decided on donuts in place of a wedding cake and photo booth pictures in place of favors, you are now ready to spice up your wedding dress. Petticoats are a simple and classy way to add a fun twist of color to your otherwise formal and simple wedding dress. They look great under short or long wedding dresses and come in any color you can imagine. It adds that extra fullness and the ruffles give you that extra ooooh-la-la you may be looking for. A petticoat can also hide the metal lines of hooping that may show under thinner wedding gowns.
(Picture1)
(Picture2)
(Picture5)
There are endless amounts of color that you find with these petticoats. We found these short ones for $45 each on Sterling & Pearls
If your not into the 50’s era short dress you still can add a pop of color under your long dress. They make long Petticoats too! No one will ever see your color as you walk down the aisle with your train. But later when your dress is bustled and your twirling around on the dance floor, the color will be seen and will add a fun touch to your reception.
We found these long petticoats also on Sterling & Pearls for $145. There are also a lot of editorials on line on how to dye a white petticoat. We don’t suggest this because if your getting married in the summer and it’s hot your thighs tend to sweat and the dye can run, turning your legs a different color. So just leave this up to the experts and purchase one.

Another awards show equals another night of fabulous fashion and wedding dress inspiration. This red carpet was filled with dresses that would be perfect for any bride-to-be. There was definitely a trend with sequins, sparkle and elegant lace. Who is your best dressed?
Jayma Mays from Glee is wearing an incredible beaded gown with a peek-a-boo lace back that just makes her look stunning. This dress in white or ivory would be a vintage glamor bridal gown with lots of sparkle.
Berenice Bejo from the movie “The Artist” and Naya Rivera from “Glee”, one in Lace and one in a beaded gown, both are showing off some skin with these plunging neck lines.
Maria Menounos in this sexy black dress with bling in all the right places would be a very sexy wedding dress in white or ivory. The corset look is very slimming when done right. Adorable Emma Stone is cute as ever in this short black dress with bubble hem. For the right wedding this fun flirty dress would definitely be a throw back to the pinup era and would be glamorous in white or ivory. The incredible Alexander McQueen is the creator of this amazing dress. We also are loving Emma’s up do as well.
Ohhh, Lea Michele! She tries so hard. This Attelier Versace gown straight from the runway of 2010, is definitely different. We are loving the color of the dress and are seeing sliver and platinum wedding gowns make an appearance in the bridal stores. I love the top of this dress but a slit this high is a little inappropriate for a wedding, then again the way Lea is standing in it might be inappropriate for the red carpet too. We kind of find a slit this high only looks good on legs like Charlize Therone. (See our blog on the Golden Globes.) Sorry Lea, great color, just not loving the dress on you.
These two gorgeous white goddess gowns are perfect for a wedding. Viola Davies in her strapless white gown with gold embellishments by Marchese is perfect for an outdoor wedding or even beach wedding. Kelly Osbourne’s white dress by Badgley Mischka is timeless, classy and simple, minus the things dangling from her belt. We would take those off.
And now for our top 3 favorite Wedding Gown inspired Red Carpet dresses………..
#3 SOFIA VERGARA
Sofia Vergara showed off her amazing figure in this raspberry pink Marchesa gown. This woman knows how to dress and always has one of the best dresses. How amazing would this dress be in White for your wedding gown? Gorgeous!
#2 KALEY CUOSO
This is the prefect wedding dress! I am pretty sure you can currently see a dress almost exactly like this in the window of Miosa Couture in downtown Sacramento. The dress Kaley Cuoso is currently wearing is from Romona Keveza .
#1 STACEY KEIBLER
This is by far our favorite dress of the night! This stunning Marchesa gown is incredible. Not only does Stacey get to wear this amazing dress but she also gets to be the arm candy for this good looking hunk. This gown in a soft ivory would be a stunning wedding gown.
Not only does this luck girl get to wear this dress, be the arm candy to George Clooney but she also gets to hang out with Brad and Angelina! Really! What a lucky girl.
Like the look of Stacey’s dress? Here are a few wedding dresses that are similar.
All four dresses above we found on VogueGrabber.com for under $300. Crazy right?

We post engagement pictures on Saturday for you to be inspired. This adorable couple, Brooke & Jason, had their pictures captured by Catie Coyle Photography who brought a modern touch to the great outdoors. She added a chair! If you like the look of a portrait session but also like the look of the outdoors why not mix it up. By adding the simple modern looking chair to the outdoors it gives a unique look and is something different. Also when looking at engagement pictures for inspiration make sure to pay attention to colors they are wearing, patterns in clothing and the poses they are doing (or not doing). See what you like in pictures and don’t like in pictures and make sure to share it with your photographer.

How to Get Your Finances Together (as a Couple) Before Tying the Knot
It is common sense that disagreements over finances is one of the main reasons couples end up in divorce or canceling a wedding, so it’d be a smart idea to go over finances and make some important decisions BEFORE tying the knot. You may think everything will be rainbows when you are married and living happily ever after, but if you want to minimize the “financial fights” read and take the following advice:
Combining accounts is always a decision couples must face and it is a very important one at that. Having your own money and being able to do with it what you please can lessen arguments about money. Having that said, most people also believe that having separate joint accounts lessens the sense of unity in marriage and shows a lack of trust in one another. If you each keep your own account and share one joint account, the decision will make both parties happy and solve the “to mingle or not to mingle” accounts issue.
When choosing this method, come up with a way to determine how much each of you will contribute to the joint checking account. A good way to do this:
A. If you both earn roughly the same amount, it makes sense to each contribute the same dollar amount to the joint account. If one of you earns substantially more than the other, it’s only fair to contribute on a percentage basis.
B.Set up a joint savings account that each of you contributes to for your shared financial goals, such as saving for retirement, investing, buying a new vehicle, taking a vacation, paying for your kids’ college educations, etc. (It is usually smart to save at least 10% of your monthly income).
C.Continue to pay your own pre-existing credit card debt, student loans, and other financial obligations from your personal checking accounts.
It’s called a budget and it is very important to keep track of it. Tracking your spending is not a way to point fingers at one another as to who is spending what. This is usually how arguments start. Tracking your spending is not having someone looking over your shoulder every time you buy something. Tracking your spending is critical to being financially secure. Unless you know where your money is going, it is impossible to set financial goals you are both comfortable with.
Know what is important to each of you. One of you may want to buy a house while the other thinks saving for your retirement is more important. Seeking the help of a financial planner can help you set your priorities and still spend money on some fun things like a vacation now and then.
Setting your financial priorities also applies to saving for your wedding. Figure out how much you want to spend before even looking at a venue. It is important that you are both on the same page. A wedding is an easy way to get into major debt if you don’t organize and spend wisely. A good way to keep this from happening is to figure out, as a couple, how much you can and will need to put away each month to be able to afford the wedding you want. This way you are not stuck with stacks and stacks of credit card bills that create stress after getting married.
If your parents are planning on helping out with the wedding, it would be wise to sit down with both sets of parents and find out realistically what they plan on helping you with or do not plan on helping you with. Putting all options and possibilities on the table before planning the wedding will also help get rid of stress.
Talking about money isn’t ever easy. Money can symbolize different things to each partner. One may view money as security and the other as power. If the topic of debt, bills, savings, and goals makes one or both of you uncomfortable or defensive, seek the help of a financial counselor or planner. It is important that both of you know where you stand financially and have common financial goals.

This adorable couple is dear to my heart. Melissa is one of my best friends and I get the honor of being in her August Wedding. This couple is unique, funky, and they have their own style. These cute photos taken by Catie Coyle Photography (Catie also gets to be a lucky bridesmaid as well) captures the couple and how they enjoy the wonderful world of Oakland where they live. Melissa & James we can’t wait for your wedding, and we just think you two are perfect together.
ENW Tip: When taking your engagement pictures be natural. You can incorporate things into your shoot that you like to do. For example, Melissa & James like to ride bikes which is why they took some pictures on their bikes. James is also an artist and painter so the pictures in front of the mural, not only mean something special but they also are very colorful and fun for the picture. So use things in your everyday life to incorporate into your engagement pictures so the pictures describe who you are. If you love to cook together and spend every night in the kitchen cooking fabulous meals, take your pictures in the kitchen with a gorgeous apron. I can see a flour fight turning into a very fun picture.

Stickin’ to the basics never looked or tasted so good
Forget about the filet mignon, lemon herb-crusted salmon, or amaretto chicken. Today we’re taking you back to the basics and all the while saving you money. Which never hurts, right? Wedding food trends have been changing in recent years and luckily for you it’s getting more creative and less expensive. What a great combo!
These days, many couples are opting out of the typical “one-meat-and-two-sides” approach to dinner, and getting a little more inventive in their approach to wedding cuisine. We have seen wedding food evolve from the classic plated meal to a reception filled with innovative food stations and other unique cuisines options.
Here is just a few of these new trends we have spotted:
Food Stations
Another great trend that is spreading quickly is food stations. Although these tend to be much more informal than a sit down dinner, food stations offer your guests variety, ensuring everyone gets exactly what they want. They also help to create a relaxed and conversational atmosphere, where guests can easily mingle without having to sit at the same table all night. The best part about them? You can personalize your wedding by creating a food station that says something about you and your spouse. If one of you loves waffle, then feature a waffle station and include all the different toppings. — You can have anything from whipped cream to strawberries and bananas. If you love sushi why not create a sushi bar for your guests to grab their favorite?
Mini-Tized Samplers
As wedding receptions are beginning to run later and later into the night, bite-sized late night wedding snacks are quickly becoming one of the most popular trends in wedding food. After hours upon hours of dancing, socializing and partying, your guests will have, no doubtedly, worked up an appetite. And what better to fill that hunger than by passing out fun and casual little mini-tized bites of their favorite comfort foods. From pancakes on a stick to espresso shots topped with mini doughnuts, these treats are the perfect way to end the night. You can bet that these miniature pleasures will not only subdue your guests’ appetite, but are sure to be a huge hit!

S’mores, ice cream, popcorn… you name it. Having interactive stations such as these various bars is another great way to get your guests out of their chairs and participating in the festivities. Again, this is another great way to personalize your wedding. Maybe you and your hubby are big campers (S’mores Bar) or you really love caramel apples (caramel apple station), why not invite your guests to share in one of your favorite past times?

Mason Jars… Not Just For Canning Tomatoes.
Don’t you love it when you can take something so simple and inexpensive and turn it into something so sublime and elegant? You know, like when the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella turned an ordinary pumpkin into that extraordinary horse carriage. Yeah, it’s pretty great when these things happen and we agree.
Luckily for us, and you, our blog today focuses on just that. Except instead of transforming pumpkins, we are going to transform Mason jars. Seriously? Who would have thought, right? Believe it or not the Mason jar has turned into a major force to be reckoned with in the world of weddings, especially as more and more brides are choosing “vintage” as their wedding theme. Fortunately, Mason jars seem to have just the perfect touch of creating that rustic feel.
Why use the Mason jar? It’s simple: The beauty of the Mason jar is that not only is it elegantly simplistic and inexpensive, but it is incredibly versatile. They can be used for literally everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, from lighting to décor to drinking glasses. Don’t believe me, see for yourself:
First up on our list, Mason Jars as drinking glasses
Spice up your beverage display by using mason jars as drink ware. Paired with a striped straw or strung with a little twill, these glasses will be a huge hit at your wedding!
Mason Jars as Lighting and Décor
From candleholders to table numbers, mason jars are the perfect way to dress up your wedding décor.

Another one of my favorites is using Mason Jars as Favors
The great thing about Mason jars is they can be filled with absolutely anything. From candies to jams and everything in between.
One of my favorites is pre-filling the jars with baking ingredients for your favorite dessert recipe. From cookies to cakes, just throw in your recipe mix (in pretty layers), and attach baking instructions for all your guests to take home and enjoy.
Last up on our list, Mason Jars as Centerpieces
There really are no words to describe just how creative and breathtaking these can be. I’ll just have to let you see for youself.
